Visiting the Caribbean
On June 12th, visitors to San Juan can experience a real Caribbean treat – take on some familiar foods at the 3rd Annual Puerto Rico Pizza & Beer Fest. It's an afternoon of brews and pies at Bahia Urbana with a variety of live entertainment.
Central America is known for its coffee and its chocolate, and, on September 10th and 11th, visitors can get a taste of both at the 2016 Coffee and Chocolate Expo. Come hungry to the Puerto Rico Convention Center in San Juan and fill up on samples of a variety of rich, brown delights.
Planning a mid-October visit to San Juan? Don’t miss your chance to be a part of the 2016 Caribbean Aero Expo on October 15th and 16th. Also held at the Puerto Rico Convention Center, it’s two days of indoor and outdoor events, with a parade of planes, helicopter rides, and a grand finale air show.
San Juan's rich culture and character are ripe for exploration, and a trip to the neighborhood of Old San Juan should be high on the itinerary of any visitor this summer. Stroll colonial streets lined with historic homes and buildings, and dip in for dinner or drinks in one of the area's charming restaurants, cafés, and bars to find a sense of local flavor.
From there, check out landmarks like La Fortaleza, San Juan Cathedral, and San Juan Gate or put on some sunscreen and head out for a day on the sand at beaches like Balneario El Escambron, in Puerta de Tierra, and Balneario de Carolina, in Isla Verde.
Fall visitors won't want to miss the opportunity to explore Puerto Rico’s iconic forts. On November 11th, admission to El Morro Fort and the Fort San Cristobal is free, in observance of Veterans Day.
