Visiting the Caribbean
Year-round, the Caribbean is a popular vacation destination, and fall visitors to Paradise Island, Pétion-Ville, Saint Thomas, and San Juan won’t have trouble understanding why. This season, a wealth of special events, festivals, and attractions are poised to make your visit to the islands unforgettable.
Find a sense of Haitian history on your Pétion-Ville visit by checking out the architecturally stunning National Museum of Haiti in nearby Port-au-Prince. The MANUPAH highlights the Pearl of the Antilles’ natural beauty as well as the artisanal heritage of its people through countless paintings, sculptures, and artifacts from throughout the ages.
Visitors would be remiss not to explore Old San Juan. Simply strolling down the streets past the area’s historic homes and buildings is an experience all its own. However, on November 11th, the exploration can go even deeper. In honor of Veterans Day, admission to the forts of the San Juan National Historic Site offer free admission, providing a unique glimpse into the centuries-old history.
It’s no secret the Bahamas are an sensational get away, no matter the time of year, but Paradise Island is arguably its most beautiful – and this fall is a fine time to visit. The weather’s right for a round of Golf at the Ocean Club Golf Course and Atlantis Paradise Island draws big crowds all season long with the marine exhibits of the Dig, and live entertainment, and more.
Students and sports fans flock to Paradise Island for “a college basketball showdown as legendary as Atlantis itself,” November 25th through 27th. Eight of the best college teams from around the United States will be competing in the 2015 Battle 4 Atlantis, including Michigan, Texas A&M, and Gonzaga.
Filmmakers and fans of the art make make their way to Nassau on Paradise Island for nearly two weeks of film screenings, December 1st through 12th. Check the schedule for individual show times, as well as information on how to be a part of panel discussions, exclusive screenings, and more 2015 Bahamas International Film Festival events.
